What is aerial yoga?
Aerial yoga is the practice of yoga using a low-hanging silk hammock that supports up to 1,000 pounds. These classes have roots in Unnata® Aerial Yoga and TYS® Aerial Yoga. With the weight of the body partially or fully supported along with the help of gravity and the fabric, we can explore and create space in our bodies as intended in traditional yoga practice. Aerial yoga is similar to a traditional floor practice, but uses the hammock as a prop to move from one pose to another. Whether it’s on the mat or in the hammock, you will find a rhythmic flow, linking breath with movement. The hammock is intended to be used to find some release and softness in the body, realign the physical and spiritual bodies, and rebuild your body and mind with strength and flexibility.
